Fragments with children, in simple everyday moments.
1
若只如
初见
As If Always
the First Meeting
Watching children play, quarrel,
and return to laughter moments later.
Sometimes it feels like watching a play.
Not from a distance,
but sensing when to step in,
and when the scene can simply unfold.
Long ago,
their conflicts would bring tension.
There were worries
that friendships might break,
that new companions would be needed,
that emotions might leave marks.
2
Now they appear
as passing waves.
In their world,
conflict does not stay long.
One scene ends,
and the light on the stage has already changed.
No one is the protagonist.
Life simply moves
through different roles.
As if every meeting
were the first.
3
Simple
Enough
简单
Sometimes a thought appears:
How can this simplicity
be kept?
Yet the moment it arises,
it is already clear—
The wish to maintain it
has already complicated it.
The flow
never needed maintenance.
So what remains
is a small smile.
And a quiet admission—
Nothing more to say.

A Small Window
in Ordinary Life
We were simply talking about the children.
About their play, their conflicts
their brief emotions.
Somewhere along the way,
the conversation gently shifted.
My partner said:
Perhaps there are still emotions
that need to be expressed.
Otherwise they stand in the way.
In the way of what?
In the way of fully experiencing the present.
For a moment, there was quiet.
No one was explaining anything.
Just suddenly seeing
a small window open in the middle of life.
From the children's world
gently opening into presence.
None of it had been arranged.
It simply happened.
5
Who Is Happening
in This Moment
The child becomes restless.
Moving back and forth,
a current running through the body.
I do not intervene immediately.
I simply watch.
Then suddenly
something becomes still.
As if time paused
for a breath.
In that moment it becomes difficult to tell:
who exactly
this is happening to.
Is the restlessness
in the child?
Or within me?
Or simply appearing
in the space between us.
There is no answer.
Only the boundaries
become very light.
Like the surface of water
softly moving.
And then
life continues.
In that moment it becomes difficult to tell:
who exactly
this is happening to.
Is the restlessness
in the child?
Or within me?
Or simply appearing
Fragments of presence with children, as things happen.
No correcting, no leading — just staying.
